Big Problems

There are people who may have dental needs that are more complex than normal concerns. These may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Loose fitting and/or uncomfortable dentures
  • An unsatisfactory removable bridge (partial denture)
  • Missing teeth
  • Unsightly teeth

Many people have lived with these problems for years and have not seen a dentist in a long time. The reasons for not seeing a dentist may be anxiety due to bad experiences in the past, concern that nothing better could be provided, or not knowing how to choose a dentist that might be able to help them.

Today, with the success of dental implants, dentures can be provided that are comfortable and have no movement. Missing and unsightly teeth can be replaced and/or enhanced with a combination of implants and natural looking crowns or veneers.

Once someone has decided to do something about their teeth or dentures, how do they find a dentist to treat these more complex problems? Much more training and experience is required than for routine dental procedures.

In addition, the fees to obtain a successful result with complex treatment are often more substantial than for routine dental care. This is the primary reason we offer payment plans to our patients, allowing them to budget desired treatments. However, it is unreasonable to quote a fee for a complex treatment without a through diagnostic examination. Therefore, after the initial consultation, if the patient wants to take the next step, an examination appointment that includes x-rays and other diagnostic aides will be scheduled. After a week or so, a consultation will be scheduled to review treatment options and fees.

Occasionally, a patient may have the desire to move forward but for various reasons may need to delay beginning treatment. However, when the time is right, they will know what will be necessary in time and cost.

Although these more complex treatments can be challenging, they can be life-changing events for the patient and provide great personal satisfaction for the dentist.
