Crowns, Inlays, & Onlays

A tooth with a crack, chip, extensive decay, will need a restoration. The size of the damage and location of the tooth contribute to determining which type of restoration and material will offer the best results. A conservative alternative to a full crown, inlays and onlays are like large fillings. They are milled, though, like a crown, rather than starting out as a liquid, like composite resin. Made from solid porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or all metal, inlays and onlays require two dental visits.

Crowns cover the portion of a tooth that extends above the gum line. Dr. Chalk prefers to make crowns that look like natural tooth enamel, from porcelain or porcelain fused to metal. For molars that incur intense pressure, a metal crown may be the best solution. A crown restores strength, beauty, function, and shape to a damaged tooth. Placement of a crown requires two dental visits.

Our inlays, onlays, crowns, and prosthetic teeth are created by dental ceramists in trusted, domestic laboratories. They use fine ceramics and highly esthetic materials to create lifelike restorations and replacement teeth.
